On April 6, 2024, GINA’s newest antenna – dubbed “UAF-5” – was lifted into place atop the University of Alaska Fairbanks’ Usibelli Engineering Building. On September 6, 2024, the installation of UAF-5 was completed with the addition of it’s protective radome. This 3-meter antenna will replace the “Big Dog” antenna atop UAF’s Akasofu Building, which will be repurposed for educational activities, but for the moment, both “Big Dog” and “UAF-5” capture dozens of satellite passes per day.
